Mary Clare Schweitzer – Artist & Illustrator
Based on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, I’m a digital artist and illustrator specializing in designs for stationery, home goods, puzzles, and more. My work draws inspiration from nature, travel, family life, and holidays.
I grew up in a small town in Ohio, surrounded by creativity and imagination. With four sisters and a family that encouraged artistic expression—whether it was drawing, painting, piano, etc.—art has always been at the heart of my life.
My passion deepened in high school, where I spent countless hours designing and painting sets for musicals and recess in the art room. I went on to earn a B.A. in History from Franciscan University of Steubenville, while filling every elective with art classes. After graduating, I married my high school sweetheart, started a family, and launched an Etsy shop offering hand-painted watercolor commissions.
In 2021, our family hit the road full-time in an RV, traveling across numerous states and visiting national parks, museums, trying local cuisines and brews, and making unforgettable memories. That adventure sparked a creative shift. I found myself downsizing my art supplies to an IPad, and soon discovered surface pattern design.
Today, I work as a freelance illustrator and sell digital products in my Etsy shop. My favorite subjects to illustrate are nature, travel, and Christmas.
We now call Montrose, Colorado home, where I continue to find artistic inspiration in everyday life. When I'm not drawing, you’ll find my family and I hiking, camping, or visiting a favorite brewery.
